AN EXPLANATION:
So, when I took a break from posting on my blog, it was due initially to severe burnout on movies and most media. I was tired from work and not able to get my head in the game. That has since changed. One thing I attribute to easing my burnout was therapy. Another thing was finally getting into my headspace and figuring out why I was so burnt out. I discovered my burnout was simply having too many things on my plate. I began thinning out my plate, but soon I fell into old habits and kept myself far too busy. But, I'd like to change that now. Starting this next week, I'd like to begin setting up a more consistent release schedule. BACK TO SATURDAY RELEASES!
I'll be releasing one review a week on Saturday every week. That is currently my game plan. If it changes or I miss a deadline, I'll post it on Facebook consistently. Now, for now, there is no theme or greater plan except for a few retrospectives I'm currently working on as my girlfriend and I clear through the MCU Rewatch we decided to do ahead of Doomsday. For now, I'm reviewing whatever I watch that week. It can be a movie, a show, or even just a book or game. But, I'm returning to a weekly format in order to a) motivate myself to write again and b) rebuild my passion for the art of reviewing. I'll keep the same template I had previously, but might throw in some additional posts on other topics I'm passionate about. I had several unreleased blog ideas I wanted to post that I finally might get around to. IN THE NEAR FUTURE: I'd like to discuss a podcast with Daniel at some point or another. We'd release an hour-long weekly special that would detail recent news in film, historical events in film, and generally feature us shooting off ideas or things we wanna talk about. The biggest issues preventing this is a) formatting that's interesting enough to hold attention and b) equipment. I'm looking into both in the near future. Lastly, I want to work on maybe including other writers for this if I can. While their templates might be different, I'd like to include other thoughts and opinions on my blog if possible. That being said, Double Down will remain just Dan and I until I've seen someone legitimately show interest in this.
FOR NOW?
I am returning to writing and blog-making after a long hiatus. Things will be rough for a while and I have no doubts that I might fall off the blog-writing craze again. But, as time has gone on, I want my thoughts to be out there and I want people to balance ideas off of. In that spirit, please respond to the post this is attached to or reach out if you're interested in giving feedback! Facebook Messenger is always open or you can leave a response on the blog here. Thank you so much for supporting my blog and giving your honest feedback. See y'all on the flip side when Double Down posts its first review in over a year!
